1 November 2018 – St Felix de l’Heras to Pas de l’Escalette

2017-02-16 11-23-43.JPGThis is a short walk from St Felix de l’Heras to the Pas de l’Escalette. It includes the waterfalls where the Lergue comes over the escarpment and starts its descent towards Pegairolles. These should be impressive after the recent rain. With any luck there will be no rain during the walk, and it should not be too windy.

The walk is mostly on quiet roads, with no steep climbs.

As usual we shall meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 9:50, ready to depart at 10:00. The walk will start from the middle of St Felix at about 10:30, even it there is still a little rain about. We should be back in Lodeve by 13:00.

Distance: 3+ km

16 August 2018 – Upper Lergue Valley

The walk this week will be relatively short, mostly flat and often shaded. It is a short part of a marked circular walk from St. Felix de l’Heras – we will walk up the Lergue valley to a waterfall and then return by the same route. 2018-08-12 14-04-27

The first km of this walk is a long gentle descent from the main road to the Lergue river. The path is not steep but it is often stony, with tree roots to add to the difficulties underfoot. Once at the river we follow the riverside path through meadows and fields of wildflowers for about 1.5 km, to a waterfall. The return is by the same route.

At present there are lots of butterflies around, so we should see various whites, browns, blues, yellows, several fritillaires, southern white admirals, and possibly even a dryad. Bring your butterfly books!

We will meet at 8:50, outside the Luteva Cinema, ready for departure at 9:00. The walk will start on the D155, at a sign post about 500 m from St Felix going towards Les Rives, at about 9:30. There is a parking area a few hundred meters further on. We should be back in Lodeve by 12:30.

16 February 2017 – Pas de l’Escalette

If, as forecast, the rain has stopped by Thursday morning, we will walk around the Pas de l’Escalette area, near St Felix de l’Heras. After heavy rain, the waterfall where the Lergue comes off the plateau and into the Pegairolles valley can be dramatic and impressive, so we shall start the walk there. After that we will explore some of the paths and tracks in the area. Mostly this is on country roads but includes some tracks, which may be muddy, so come well shod. The walk will be exploratory, along the beginnings of several walks that start at St Felix, probably no more than 5km.

As usual we shall meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 09:50, ready to leave at 10:00. We should start the walk at around 10:30, and be back in Lodeve by 12:30.
