15 June 2023 – Around Nebian

This is a lovely walk to the west of Nebian. We start in the village centre and then walk up onto the plateau, where there are tremendous views of the surrounding countryside.

This is a round walk we have done before and is a favourite. The climb up to the plateau is cut into the hillside and involves a lot of steps. It is a bit challenging, but previous walkers have generally coped.

As usual, we shall meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 9:50, ready to depart at 10:00. The walk itself will start from the main car park in Nebian at 10.25. We should be back in Lodeve by 13:30.

13 January 2022 – Nebian

This is a walk around the hills behind Nebian – it is several years since we last did the first part of this walk, but we have done the second (easier) part regularly.

The walk is about 6km, mostly on good tracks and roads, but with some sections on paths. It involves a long but moderate amount of up-hill (but nothing extreme) and provides many views down to Nebian and across the Herault valley.

The weather is expected to be mostly sunny, though initially cold, but with only light winds.

As usual, we shall meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 9:50, ready to depart at 10:00. The walk itself will start from the main car park in Nebian at 10:25. We should be back in Lodève by 13:30.

As previously agreed, we ask that you do NOT come on this walk UNLESS you are protected from infection or transmission of the virus by vaccination. As a general rule this means that you should not come until at least two weeks after your first injection.

18 November 2021 – Nebian, les Meules

This week we propose a walk south from Nebian, across the Dourbie river. The walk is about 9 km, generally flat but with several short sections climbing or descending, occasionally a bit tricky.

This is a circular walk south from the centre of Nebian. We ford the Dourbie river twice – each time there are stepping stones, but care is needed. Fortunately the river levels are not high at present. On the hillside south of the river we will visit the old mill-stone quarry (les Meules). It is expected to be mostly sunny this week, still quite windy, but not especially cold.

As usual, we shall meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 9:50, ready to depart at 10:00. The walk itself will start from the car park in the centre of Nebian at about 10:30. We should be back in Lodeve by 14:00.

13 December 2018 – Domaine de la Tour

This week we propose an easy walk around the fields close to the Domaine de la Tour, south of Nebian. 

This is a walk of between 3 and 5 km (we can decide as we go round) on the tracks south of Nebian. It is mostly flat.

The forecast for Thursday is not good. It should be dry at the start, but there is a high chance that rain will start by the end of the morning, so come prepared. The nature of the walk is that it can be curtailed if necessary.

As usual we shall meet at 9:50 outside the Luteva Cinema, ready to leave at 10:00. The walk will start at about 10:30 from the car park at the Domaine de la Tour. The Domaine is reached by a turning (on the left, with a sign) about 1.5 km south of Nebian on the D609.
