This is a short walk from St Felix de l’Heras to the Pas de l’Escalette. It includes the waterfalls where the Lergue comes over the escarpment and starts its descent towards Pegairolles. These should be impressive after the recent rain. With any luck there will be no rain during the walk, and it should not be too windy.
The walk is mostly on quiet roads, with no steep climbs.
As usual we shall meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 9:50, ready to depart at 10:00. The walk will start from the middle of St Felix at about 10:30, even it there is still a little rain about. We should be back in Lodeve by 13:00.
Distance: 3+ km
Circular walk looking for mushrooms
After the recent rain, and a few warm days, there is a reasonable chance that some mushrooms will be appearing. So this is a good time to do our annual walk from La Couvertoirade.
This is a circular walk of about 6 km, on stony tracks and paths, mostly gentle, but with a total climb of about 100m. The stony sections, about half of the walk, can be quite rough, with big stones to negotiate or loose pebbles underfoot. The weather is expected to be sunny, though with a cold start.
As usual we shall meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 9:50 ready to depart at 10:00. The walk will start from the car park at La Couvertoirade, at about 10:30. We should be back in Lodeve by 13:30.
Distance: 6 km
After the rain we get back to walking with a local walk along the Lergue. We have done this walk several times in the past, in different weather conditions: it is about 8 km, and is flat, apart from two short hills on the way back. There is a chance of a shower in the morning, but the walk will go ahead anyway.
This walk leaves Lodeve past Takavenir and then along the track through the fields by the A75, crosses the Lergue by the bridge (to Lauroux and Pegairolles) and returns by the Vieux Chemin de Poujols. The track through the fields is not muddy, but it is likely to have puddles (see picture) – the rest of the walk is on roads.
As usual we shall meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 9:50, ready to depart at 10:00. The walk out of town will be via the Pont de Celles, so that is an alternative meeting point, at about 10:15. We should be back in Lodeve by 12:30.
Distance: ~8 km
The current forecast is that the wet weather will continue until Friday, with continuous light rain on Thursday.
So, there will be no walk this week.
However, if the rain should stop we will depart on foot from the Cinema at 10:00.
This week we will try again with the circular walk on the plateau to the west of Les Rives!
The walk is quite long, about 8 km, but quite easy, all on country roads and good tracks. It is mostly level, with a few rolling sections, and a total climb of about 50 m. The terrain is varied, with open views across fields and the more distant plateau, and wooded and scrubby sections. The forecast is for mostly full sun, but with a continuation of the recent lower air temperatures, and the wind should have dropped.
As usual, we will meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 9:50, ready to set off at 10:00. The walk will start at 10:30 from the parking area in Les Rives. We should be back in Lodeve by 14:00.
Distance: 8 km
Bring: Snack, sun protection.
