27 April 2017 – Wild flowers on the Guilhaumard

A circular walk on the Guilhaumard Plateau, near La Bastide des Fonts

It looks as though this will be a good year for wild flowers, so this week we will repeat a walk that we did at the same time last year. We should see some early orchids, pasque flowers, and fritillaires (very localised, but profuse this year).

The walk starts from a parking area near the start of the turning towards Canals, a couple of kilometers after La Bastide des Fonts. We walk for a couple of kilometers along the (very quiet) D493 to the Pas de Licous, and then follow a circuit of tracks across the plateau. The route goes up and down a bit and is sometimes stony underfoot, but is not difficult, with a total length of about 7 km.

As usual we shall meet outside the Luteva Cinema at 9:50, for departure at 10:00. The walk should start from the parking area at about 10:40. We should be back in Lodeve by 14:00.

Leader: Andrew
Distance: 7 km

A spring walk from St. Jean de la Blaquiere

WE shall set off from the village square and start off on the GR route (the first 200m. is a bit steep) towards St. Guilhem before turning to head back to the village. This is a lovely walk over undulating tracks with spring flowers, asphodel, vetch,  broom etc., and good views to the hills beyond Lac Salagou. It is about 5km.  and we should be back in Lodeve by 1.00pm

To celebrate her birthday Janette has invited us to join her at the Association au Clap for lunch immediately after the walk and would appreciate it if you could phone her by 3.00pm on Wednesday if you would like to join her so that she can let the Association know numbers for Thursday. Her mobile is 06 78 81 12 54.

Please meet at Luteva at the usual time of 9.50 to organise co-voiturage for a 10.00 departure (I shall not be there to organise it) and if going direct to St. Jean, we shall leave the square at 10.30.

Walk from Luteva along the Soulondre and the Belbézé area.

This week we organise a short walk from Luteva along “la Soulondre” and after that we will go a bit uphill to the Belbézé area. At the other side of the road to Olmet (D148E1) we will descend to Lodève again. It is a circular and rather easy walk. Distance about 4 to 5 km. Maximum ascent (and descent) is 100 m. We expect to be back at Luteva around noon or a bit later.

Meet at Luteva at 10 minutes to 10 to start the walk at 10 o’clock.
